New calculated colum.

Hi guys,

I want to create a new column to give me the information if the sales percentage is as per below.

- less then 10%

- <= 50% (between 11 and 50%)

- > 50%

How can I do that?

Thanks!

Hi @ROG ,

If you want to return the values you provided, you need first a formula to return the sales percentage.

I created an example for reference.

Sample data.

I recommend creating measures.

1.Create a measure to return the sales percentage. The percentage is grouped by personID.

Sales percentage = DIVIDE(CALCULATE(SUM(Sale[Sales]),FILTER(ALLSELECTED(Sale),[PersonID]=MAX('Sale'[PersonID]))),CALCULATE(SUM(Sale[Sales]),ALL(Sale)))

2.Create a measure to return the three types.

Range = IF([Sales percentage]<0.1,"less then 10%",IF([Sales percentage]>=0.1&&[Sales percentage]<=0.5,"<= 50% (between 11 and 50%)",IF([Sales percentage]>0.5,"> 50%")))

Calculated is OK.

Sales percentage calculated column = DIVIDE(CALCULATE(SUM('Sale'[Sales]),FILTER('Sale',[PersonID]=EARLIER(Sale[PersonID]))),CALCULATE(SUM('Sale'[Sales]),ALL(Sale)))
Range calculated column = IF([Sales percentage calculated column]<0.1,"less then 10%",IF([Sales percentage calculated column]>=0.1&&[Sales percentage calculated column]<=0.5,"<= 50% (between 11 and 50%)",IF([Sales percentage calculated column]>0.5,"> 50%")))

@ROG Sorry, having trouble following, can you post sample data as text and expected output?
Not really enough information to go on, please first check if your issue is a common issue listed here: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/Before-You-Post-Read-This/ba-p/1116882

Also, please see this post regarding How to Get Your Question Answered Quickly: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Community-Blog/How-to-Get-Your-Question-Answered-Quickly/ba-p/38490

The most important parts are:
1. Sample data as text, use the table tool in the editing bar
2. Expected output from sample data
3. Explanation in words of how to get from 1. to 2.
