Need help debugging a Power BI data model with Microsoft internal data

Hi,

I'm a Microsoft employee working on a Power BI report and running into issues setting up my data model relationships. I believe I have setup my tables correctly, have reviewed the model with technical peers but we're unable to resolve. I am now looking for someone with deep Power BI expertise to help debug. The report contains sensitve, Microsoft internal data. Are there resources available within Microsoft to review?

Thank you,

-James

Hi @JELDER ,

The advice above is excellent—these kinds of issues, especially when they involve internal or sensitive Microsoft data, are best handled within trusted channels.

A few additional points to consider:

  • If you’re a Microsoft employee, you can leverage internal resources like the Power BI internal support groups (e.g., via Teams or Yammer communities), or the internal “Ask an Expert” channels for fast, confidential help.
  • Microsoft also has internal escalation processes for complex Power BI issues—your internal IT or BI Center of Excellence team may be able to escalate on your behalf.
  • If you need to collaborate externally, ensure you’re following all data handling and NDA guidelines; only share sensitive data with Microsoft-verified experts or through secure, formal support tickets.

If you describe the specific modeling or relationship issue in more technical detail (without exposing sensitive data), the community may be able to provide general guidance or troubleshooting tips as well.

Let us know if you’re looking for pointers on internal resources or escalation paths!

As a Microsoft employee, you have access to internal support resources that are better suited to handle such confidential scenarios securely and efficiently. I recommend engaging through internal Power BI support groups on Teams or Yammer or escalating via your BI Center of Excellence or IT Helpdesk. These channels are designed to provide deep technical support while maintaining data integrity and compliance.

Please let us know if you'd like pointers to any of these internal resources. If your question can be reframed without exposing sensitive data, the community is also here to assist with general modeling guidance.

Hi @JELDER ,
Since you’re working with sensitive Microsoft internal data and have already reviewed your Power BI data model with technical peers, the best next step is to reach out to Microsoft’s internal Power BI support resources. As a Microsoft employee, you have access to specialized support channels and internal communities where experts can provide direct assistance with debugging complex data model issues, especially for confidential content.

You might want to post your request in Microsoft’s internal Yammer or Teams groups focused on Power BI, or submit a ticket through the internal IT helpdesk or Power BI support portal. These channels ensure your data remains secure while you get the expert help you need.

Hi @JELDER

These types of issues are very difficult to troubleshoot without access to the actual model and a clear understanding of what you're trying to achieve.

I recommend one of the following options:

  • Reach out to the internal support team or Power BI experts within your organization.

  • Contact a certified Microsoft partner in your geographic region and engage under an NDA.

  • Open a formal support ticket with Microsoft for secure, guided assistance.
