Need a measure to identify the number of open service tickets on any day in the past

I would like to identify a trend of the backlog of service tickets

The measure would count the number of tickets that arrived on or before the "date" and have a closed date on or after the date...

Example on last monday there were 20 open tickets, 15 were open prior to that day and 5 were opened on that day.

Wow, you don't even need a variation of Open Tickets, you need Open Tickets. It's even called Open Tickets!! 🙂

DAX is easy, CALCULATE makes DAX hard...

Tickets Open =
VAR tmpTickets = ADDCOLUMNS('service Ticket',"Effective Date",IF(ISBLANK([DateCompleted]),TODAY(),[DateCompleted]))
VAR tmpTable =
SELECTCOLUMNS(
    FILTER(
        GENERATE(
            tmpTickets,
            'Date'
        ),
        [Date] >= [DateCreated] &&
        [Date] <= [Effective Date]
    ),
    "ID",'service Ticket'[TicketID],
    "Date",[Date]
)
VAR tmpTable1 = GROUPBY(tmpTable,[ID],"Count",COUNTX(CURRENTGROUP(),[Date]))
RETURN COUNTROWS(tmpTable1)
