My power automate flows are note running after 5 plus months

Good day all,

I have created Power automate flows in Power BI to generate reports. However the flow isn't even running anymore after 5 plus months.

These are regular manual triggered flows, with the button visible in Power BI and power automate flows conected to the buttons. And the database is a SharePoint List

Hi,

Worth checking the flow within Power Automate and seeing if you're getting an error there. It would also make sense to check the recent flow runs for the error message. If it's consistently failing everytime, then common issues I've come across:
1. A field within the list being removed
2. A secondary list used as a Dim list being edited in a way where it messes up the relationships
3. Needing to reapply credentials because they've just timed out after several months (have the same issue with this for SharePoint dataflows sometimes)

If you post the error message, I can better advise.

The methodical approach I'd take for this would be to:
1. Check the logs in Power Automate

2. Fix any issues with the flow or list, if it's obvious from the logs

3. Rerun the flow within Power Automate with a previously failed run (Use Test, then automatic, then recent triggered flow). You can see a more detailed error message when running the flow in Power Automate sometimes.
4. See the detailed error message and make the necessary fixes.
Once you've got it to work in Power Automate or if it already works in Power Automate, then:
5. Test it in Power BI again to see what it does and monitor the flow in Power Automate maker portal
6. If it doesn't work, then just as a quick check, delete the button, remake it and republish the report (within PBI Desktop)
7. If that works then great, if it doesn't then post the error message from Power Automate here and I can advise

Hope that helps.

If your Power Automate flows stopped running after several months, it's likely because flows that aren't triggered for 60 days are automatically disabled by Microsoft for security and performance reasons. You need to manually re-enable the flow in Power Automate, then test the button in Power BI again.

Quick Steps to Fix

  • Go to Power Automate, check the flow status, and turn it back on if it's disabled.

  • Edit and save the flow to refresh its connection and triggers.

  • Test the flow by manually triggering it from Power BI.

  • If still not running, check for connection/authentication issues with SharePoint, button permissions, and update any expired credentials.

Also, after re-enabling, flows should work again, but plan to trigger your flows manually at least once every two months to keep them active.
