More Dates in visual than in Slicer

Hi,

I have a very very basic question. So I have a fact table (fact_volume) that has dates and volumes ranging from Jan 1 2019 to today's date. I also have a date dimension (date_dim) that has dates ranging from Jan 1 2020 to today's date. So if I join these 2 together on on a common date key and create a visual that shows volumes from fact_volume by date and a slicer that shows all dates from date_dim shouldn't it only show volumes that correspond to dates in date_dim?

I mean if I actively filter the date slicer then yes it does only show the volumes for the dates selected, however if I clear the slicer selection, shouldn't it still only show me volumes from the max date range of date_dim so Jan 1 2020 to today's date? However, what I'm seeing in the visual is dates from Jan 1 2019 to Today's date.

I feel like I'm missing something glaringly obvious. I'd appreciate any answers.

Thanks

So I WAS missing something glaringly obvious. I was using the date from the fact volumes in my visual but really I should've used the date field from dim date. Sorry everyone.

Your question doesn't make any sense.

you say "shouldn't it still only show me volumes from Jan 1 2020 to today's date? "
the. You say "However, what I'm seeing in the visual is dates from Jan 1 2019 to Today's date."

I will not give you bad advice, even if you unknowingly ask for it.
