I have the following clustered column chart with year on the x-axis and count on the y-axis:
Is there a way in the setting of the chart to tweak the spacing between the bars so that there are no white spaces in between and the bars are centered above the year? I understand what the chart is trying to display with blanks showing that there are no values for that category, but it looks funny on the chart with extra space and one column pushed all the way to the right or left.
thanks
scott
Hi @scabral
There is one problem with the visual. Where it is 0, the data level is not showing.
If you remove the space, it is misleading information. Please think, that if users click on Focus mode or show table mode and download data, it will not show the item.
Best option is
Please create a measure, which can show the blank as 0 and use the measure in visual
= If(IsBlank(YourColumnName or Measure),0,YourColumnName or Measure)
So, it is more readable and understandable for the report viewer
If solved your requirement, please mark this answer as SOLUTION.

Hello @scabral ,
Actually this is not a free space that you're referring to in your image, it's the space for your third legend which is pressure vessels which is in the case zero in year 2020.

I understand that, but is there a way to collapse that space and bring the other bars closer together? And for 2019 there is only Production Machine, but i would have liked the bar to be more centered with the year. It may not be possible, but wasn't sure.
@scabral ,
yes the same is happening for 2019, because the data for the other legends is zero its getting a space for them. you can't filter out the missing legends because they're displayed for other years.
there's in the december update some modifications for bar graphs, check if you could do something regarding this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PycL2_T0DxM

Hi Scabral,
One potential solution could be to use null values rather than 0 for 2019 and 2020 for the categories Pressure Vessel. This may remove the Pressure Vessel category for these years, allowing the bars to come closer together. However, it would be important to ensure that changing the representation of data from 0 to null makes sense in your business context.
Otherwise, I don't think there is a feature in the visual that will allow you to move the bars closer together because the value of 0 in 2019 and 2020 are in fact, valid, based on your data. Thus, Power BI will represent it in the column chart.
