Model structure automatically changes

Hi there,

My Power BI model structure automatically changes and mixes up after saving the file. Does anyone know how to avoid this?

I had the October version and I had the same problem. I have updated to the November version and it is already working correctly.

Hi Pragati,

Usually I structure my model by placing the look-up tables on top and the data tables down in the model, to be able to keep a clear understanding of how the model works. Somehow, Power BI desktop mixes up the whole structure and puts all tables randomly in the model after saving the file. The relationships stay, but the tables are positioned randomly.

If you checked Enable parallel loading of tables in the Data load tab on the Options page, this will load the queries in parallel. Conversely, if the option is unchecked, this will load the queries in series instead of parallel. Of course, if the data in every query is little, they will load quickly and the difference will not be noticeable.

You can refer to the content in the links below to customize the query loading order by the following methods:

2. Select the corresponding query and drag it to the appropriate position. Then create groups(look-up tables and data tables) according to different categories, and put the same group of queries under the same group.

Thank you for your response. I found the structure only changes when I connect the dataset to another Power BI dataset. Is this a common problem that occurs when connecting to other datasets?

When you say model staructure automatically changes and mixes, what do you exactly mean by that?

I keep it. And when I reopen it, it comes out this other way.
