Model View

Hello,

Does anyone know how and why I am having only one model view icon in my power bi desktop? I see some people have two icons for model view in their power bi desktop. Is that a feature I need to activate in my version and what is the difference between the two icons?

Thank you!

Hi @saraMissBI

Microsoft introduced a preview of the new modelling view in November 2018 which was subsequently made generally available in March 2019.

During the preview period, users would see two modelling view icons if they had enabled the preview feature.

Maybe the users you've seen are running an old version of Power BI Desktop or you've seen blog posts dating back to around that time?

Best regards,

Martyn

Based on your description, I think you may have used direct query connection mode.

One can be used to preview detailed data, one can manage table information (including relationship, storage mode, etc.)

Hi @V-lianl-msft ,

No, that was not it. I have the three icons but not a fourth one for model. Now, I understand why as explained in the reply I accepted as solution.

Are you using live database connection. In that case you will have only one icon

Thank you @MartynRamsden ! Yes, I am watching videos and tutorials recorded and published last year and mostly in that period where that functionality was in preview.

Thank you for your help 🙂
