Merging query in Power BI

Hi Team,

  • I have a table with around 4L lines with a common ID ( index) - FACT table
  • I have the same Index in another table - the DIM table.
  • when I did merger these two queries I was able to see all the combinations were properly picked.
  • The issue is with one ID which is present in both tables but not updating when I use the merge option in the Power BI query editor.
  • I have downloaded the final FACT table and just used the vlookup formula with the  DIM table to my surprise I am able to match 100%.  Not sure what is the issue and how to fix this.

Hope my explanation is clear and seeking your help in fixing this.

Hi @Molleti
It is difficult to answer a question like this without seeing the data.

In terms of general tips:

1. When importing data to PBI, a data "change type @ step is always added. Try to remove it before merging the two tables.

2. make sure the key columns are the same data type

3.. Try to trim and clean the key column in both tables if the are texts

@Molleti
According to your description, we are talking about Excel files, just save them on one drive or something similar and share them with the link

HI Ritaf,

Thank you for your quick reply and suggestions. I have done the above steps but still have issues.

As I mentioned I have an issue with one index ID only and the rest all are successfully merged.
