Merging .pbix files
Is it possible to merge two .pbix files into one so that one dashboard can be built? If both .pbix files use the same data source and one developer works on a page and another works on a second page, can the two .pbix files successfully be merged so that there is one .pbix file with two pages? I'm thinking if the two files are in Github repository, can Github merge the two files into one?

Hi @ldwf ,
Yes, it is possible to merge two .pbix files into one if both files use the same data source. However, it is important to note that merging two .pbix files can be a complex process and requires careful planning to ensure that all the data and visuals are properly integrated.
One way to merge two .pbix files is to use the "Import" feature in Power BI Desktop. Here are the steps to follow:
Open the first .pbix file in Power BI Desktop.
Click on "Home" tab and select "Import" from the "External Data" section.
Select the second .pbix file and click "Open".
In the "Navigator" window, select the data tables and visuals that you want to import into the first .pbix file.
Click "Load" to import the selected data and visuals into the first .pbix file.
After importing the data and visuals from the second .pbix file, you can rearrange and customize the visuals as needed to create your dashboard.
It is important to note that merging two .pbix files can be a complex process and requires careful planning to ensure that all the data and visuals are properly integrated. You may also need to adjust the data model and relationships to ensure that the data is properly integrated.
Regarding Github, it is possible to merge two .pbix files using Github, but it is not recommended as it can be difficult to resolve conflicts and ensure that all the data and visuals are properly integrated. It is generally recommended to use the "Import" feature in Power BI Desktop to merge two .pbix files.
If it does not help, please provide more details .

Hi @ldwf,
On my version of PowerBI Desktop there is no such choice: "Click on "Home" tab and select "Import" from the "External Data" section."
External Data section allows for a variety of sources but there is no "Import" option, nor is there a way of opening/importing an existing *.pbix file.
Would greatly appreciate it, if you could provide screenshot(s) or any other pertinent info.
power bi version installed is Version: 2.121.942.0 64-bit (September 2023)
