Hello Everyone,
I have a dataset with total lines of around 8 billions and around 400 columns. I haven't able to load that whole dataset yet and trying to do so because need to capture all the details and its granularity.
The question is, once that all dataset is successfully imported into the PBI file and visuals are created, then will that report will run well and will work correctly without crashing of that file or without showing any error? what are the limits in power bi in terms of datasets and it's PBI file size...
Just wanted to confirm on the power bi data bearing capacity to progress further.
Thank you very much for your great support in advance. 🙂
Best regards,
Sairaj Jadhav
I'll be filtering the data using parameters in Power bi desktop and will load that dashboard on Power bi services which will be less than 1 GB file.
However my querie is if I change the parameter values of same dashboard in power bi services to get it loaded with the data of 8 billion lines then is that dashboard workable and also will that dashboard run in well condition without any issues or without crashing the dashboard due to loaded huge dataset?
It means let's say if I publish a pbix file with 1 GB with limited dataset and if I load whole data inside power bi service (may be with the use of parameters) only after publishing, then there will be no any issues related to that report until it reaches 10 GB of total size, correct?
It will depend on license type are you using Pro or Premium

If I filter the data using date parameters to reduce dataset & file size and updated the parameters on Power bi web services to include whole dataset, then will it cause any issue to dataset / visuals / report working?
Maximum size is 1 GB
Please notice that if we say max dataset size is 1 GB - it means the dataset of a single pbix file you are going to publish must be smaller than 1 GB. when you publish a pbix file over 1GB to Power BI Service, you will get limitation error message.

Depending on the SKU, Power BI Premium supports uploading Power BI Desktop (.pbix) model files up to a maximum of 10 GB in size. You should have at least a P1 or an A4 SKU for any datasets larger than 1 GB.
