Matrix visual level filter don't allow to select one (or more) value of a dimension when

Hello,

we are developing a report and we face the issue in subject.

Here what we've done to reproduce the issue:

  1. Live connection to a Sql Server Analysis Services 2016
  2. Add an empty Matrix Visual
  3. Add a measure (or more) in the VALUES box under visual's FIELDS menu
  4. Add a dimension (with parameter IsAgregatable = False) in the COLUMNS box under visual's FIELDS menu
  5. Try to filter one value of the dimension in order to sho only the measure value by your selected dimension values

Here come the issue, the matrix will show a check near the value you filter but will not filter the value in the visual.

Possible work-arounds to let the filter work:

  • Move the matrix dimension from COLUMNS box to ROWS
  • Insert the same dimension in the Page Level Filters or in the Repor Level filters
  • @v-chuncz-msft: Instead, you may add a slicer and take advantage of Edit Interactions.

Note: This issue isn't shown when using the Table visual.

Dimension on Columns , no filter appliedDimension on Columns , no filter applied

Dimension on Rows, filter appliedDimension on Rows, filter applied

Someone get the same problem? How to solve it?

Thanks.

Hi @v-chuncz-msft and thanks for you reply.

Your solution is another possible workaround but doesn't solve our issue.

The customer we are working for wants to have the dimension by column in the matrix visual and don't want to add other visuals in the report to filter the dimension (eg: slicer) since he correctly said "if there is a visual filter it has to filter a dimension in a matrix by matrix columns or by matrix rows".

For us this is a Power BI bug, but we want to be sure other users face the same problem.

Thanks for your solution, we will add it in the "possible work around" list we wrote in the previous post.
