Turned autosize width off in column headers, manually adjusted column widths, matrix table is still autosizing column widths when slicer selection changes. Happens even with word wraps turned off is this a known bug if so very frustrating that it can not hang on to basic formatting!
Hi @mgw71,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum. Also, thanks to @grazitti_sapna, @Ritaf1983, for those valuable insights on this thread. Here I mentioned workaround that might be resolve the issue. Please have a look into it.
This is a known limitation in the Power BI Matrix visual. While the “Auto-size column width” setting disables automatic resizing, the Matrix visual can still recalculate and override your manual column widths when slicer or filter interactions cause:
This is not currently classified as a bug, but rather a by-design behaviour of the visual rendering engine.
The current workaround is: In the Matrix visual: Set Auto-size column width = Off under Column headers, Values, and Subtotals. Set Word wrap = Off.
After applying the above, manually resize your columns again. Avoid dynamic slicers that change the column layout. If possible:
If the issue persists, try building a new matrix visual with these settings applied fresh.
Since this is a UI behaviour and not a technical error, we recommend to raise a ideas forum through the below mentioned link: Fabric Ideas - Microsoft Fabric Community

Thank you!
Hi @mgw71
Yes, this is a known and long-standing issue in Power BI.
Even when "Auto-size column width" is turned off in a Matrix or Table visual, column widths can still reset when:
Workaround:
Switch to Table visual instead of Matrix
If you're not using row/column groups heavily, consider using a Table instead of a Matrix, which tends to behave better with manual formatting.
