M&A Dynamic Visual Matrix

Hi there,

 I'm pretty new to this community and to Power BI as well. Hope to find a solution or at least an answer to my question.

I am performing a controlling project, in which we are analyzing finance data such as revenues.

I am stuck trying to perform the following visual: We need to show each newly merged company's revenues, based on the fact that the previous year the revenues were composed of two or more companies, merged indeed.

We have the following situation:

where:

Fatturato = Revenues current year

Fatturato AP = Revenues previous year

The issue is that we do not want to see previous merges, but as we are merging companies every year, I get the result as I select the previous year's revenues (in the example highlighted in red). I can get it is a previous year merge because the value of the current year's revenues is null.

Can anyone give us any suggestions?

I cannot work on any filter, as those data changed based on the year filtered on the visual report.

Thanks in advance.

@Piccolaolli,

One approach would be to add a column to your company dimension table that groups companies. In this example, companies A and B were merged into company A.

Data model:

Here's the result using each field in DimCompany:

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The issue is not solved in this way, as M&A is not a static data, in this case two or more companies can be merged during 2023, but have performed stand alone for years. In this case the merging relations it is not only based on companies but also based on the year of merging.

@Piccolaolli,

Can you share a sanitized pbix via one of the file services, along with an example of the expected result?
