Locked Slicers After Navigating Using Custom URL Filters in Power BI

Issue: Locked Slicers After Navigating Using Custom URL Filters in Power BI + Default Selection for MEM_COUNTY Slicer

Description: When navigating from a source report to a target report using a custom URL with filters (e.g., ID_NUM eq '5D' and selected MEM_COUNTY values), the slicers in the target report show only the filter values from the URL. This locks the slicers, preventing further filtering or selecting other values.

Additionally, I want the MEM_COUNTY slicer to behave as follows:

  • If no county is selected in the URL filter, all counties should be selected by default.

Current Behavior:

  • Slicers reflect only the values passed in the URL (e.g., ID_NUM eq '5D' and certain counties).
  • Users cannot filter or select additional values within these fields after the URL navigation.
  • If no value is selected for MEM_COUNTY, it doesn't default to selecting all counties

Desired Behavior:

  • The slicers for ID_NUM and MEM_COUNTY in the target report should show all available values while still applying the URL-based filters.
  • The MEM_COUNTY slicer should default to all counties selected when no county is specified in the URL.
  • The slicers should remain interactive, allowing further filtering.

Questions:

  • How can I allow slicers to show all values while still applying the URL filter context?
  • How can I ensure that the MEM_COUNTY slicer defaults to selecting all counties when no county is specified in the URL?

URL example :

https://app.powerbi.com/groups/<workspace_id>/reports/<report_id>?filter=ID_NUM eq '5D' and MEM_COUNTY eq 'SampleCounty'

    Hi Nithinbob24 ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Are there any other filters or slicers applied to the target report that might be affecting the behavior?

Have you tried resetting the slicers or clearing the filters to see if the issue persists?

    Best Regards,

There are no other slicers or filters affecting the target report's behavior. I have verified that no page-level, report-level, or visual-level filters are conflicting with the slicers. However, when I clear the slicer selections, the visuals on the page result in a blank display.
if you have an completely different approach please free to suggest
