Load excel data in Powerbi
Hi All,
I am currently preparing a report in PowerBi for my team the excel data for three months has 10000 records it will be increasing with months i.e. for each month it will be approx 3000 records as the data size will be too huge it will be difficult to perform refresh also the data loading will be slow can you suggest a way to load data in PowerBi I thought of using Direct Query Mode or Live connection but unable to understand how that can be implemented. Can you suggest few ways to load data in PowerBi without affecting the speed of the data.
Any help would be appreciated !
Thanks in advance 🙂

Anonymous , 10000 + 3000 every month is a very small size. You can work with import mode.

My concern is about long term its not about data right now in longterm if 1lac records are added yearly won't that reduce the refresh speed and loading of meausres. I am more concerned about that ?

Hi Anonymous ,
If you want to use the Direct Query connection mode, it is recommended that you use the following databases as the data source instead of excel:
- Amazon Redshift
- Azure HDInsight Spark
- Azure SQL Database
- Azure SQL Data Warehouse
- IBM Netezza
- Impala
- Oracle Database
- SAP Business Warehouse
- SAP HANA
- Snowflake
- Spark
- SQL Server
- Teradata Database
If you still want excel as the data source and want to save the time of importing data, you can save the excel data as a pbix file after importing it once, and you can directly open the pbix file next time without importing it again.
