Issue with Mapping

Hi,

I have a mapping issue. The system tells me that I do not have permission to use the map, although the data has been taken from the learning website. Could you assist me with that, please? When I did it before, I did not have any problems with it.

You need to reach out to your tenant admin to enable the map visuals. There's nothing much you can do from your end except to login with another account that has the map visuals already enabled.

The company enabled access to the map. I've reopened the app, but it still shows me the same message. I've cleared the cache, logged out and logged back in, everything works, but when I removed the title of the map, the same message appeared.

• Verify which map visual you're using (Azure Maps, Map, Filled Map, or Shape Map), as each has different requirements.

• Ensure that map and geocoding services are enabled by your Power BI/Fabric administrator in the tenant settings.

• Confirm that your organization or network isn't blocking access to the map services.

• If you're following a Microsoft Learn exercise, make sure you're using the latest sample data and instructions, as some labs may have been updated.

• Try creating a new report with the same sample data to determine whether the issue is specific to the report or affects all map visuals.

This error actually has nothing to do with your data source or the learning website - it's a global administrative switch inside the Power BI Service.

Your Power BI Tenant Administrator has disabled map visuals organization-wide (often done for data privacy reasons, as standard maps send location data to Bing)

Here is how to get around it:

The Real Fix (Requires Admin Access)

If you have admin rights - or need to tell the person who does - this takes two seconds to fix:

• Go to the Power BI Admin Portal.
• Select Tenant settings.
• Scroll down to Integration settings.
• Look for Map and filled map visuals and toggle it to Enabled.

Quick Workarounds (If you aren't an admin)

• Switch to Azure Maps: Click on the visual and change it to the Azure Map icon in the visual gallery (the one next to the standard globe). Many organizations block the legacy Bing maps but leave Azure Maps enabled because it complies with stricter enterprise data boundaries.
• Use a Shape Map: If it's available, the Shape Map visual relies on static local geometry files (like TopoJSON) rather than geocoding servers, so it often bypasses this specific tenant restriction.
