Issue when importing an attribute of a dimension

Hi,

Context :

- I have an OLAP cube build with SSAS which is usable well in Excel
- I am on my analysis services server where Power BI desktop is installed.
- In Power BI desktop, I click on the "Modify queries" button
- I chose my server and my cube
- I select the attribute "Name" in the dimension "Customer"
- When I click on "Apply" I have the error (it is written in French)
         DataSource.Error : AnalysisServices : Le serveur a envoyé une réponse non reconnaissable.
         Détails :
         DataSourceKind=AnalysisServices
         DataSourcePath=servernam.domain;cubename
Translation : The Analysis Services server send a non recognized answer.

As you can see, the message does not mean anything ...

More precisions :

- I can retrieve all other attributes without any problem (ID, country ...), only the name is in error.
- In Excel there is no problem, I have all my customer names.
- In my database, I don't have some special characters or nothing else.
- When I retrieve the ID and the name, I found out that the ID=1050 went wrong, the name was "BEBE CASH (LIMOGE)", it is a normal name, some other very close where OK.

I tried some solutions :

- Modify some customer names with wrong characters (? ¨ for example)
- In Power BI, I tried to make a right click on the header of my column, delete errors, replace errors ... Does not work.
-  I tried to change the type of data
- I built my cube again and there is no eproblem with SSAS, my cube is deploy without error.

What is wrong with my datas ?

Thanks.

Bonjour Damien,

Merci

A bientôt

Hi,

You are a genius !

I went in my SSAS cube, selected my dimension, changed the InvalidXMLCharacters to Replace and now it works great !

Thank you,

Have a nice day.
