Is there a way to define data type when creating column?

This question is for Power Query

Is there a way to define data type when creating column?

I am asking because I want to see if we can have 1 applied step instead of 2 in Power Query

Thanks

Hi @GulianiG

Add the data type to the end of your new column expression in Advance Editor:
Normal New Column MCODE without data type:
Table.AddColumn(#"Changed Type", "Custom", each [Column1]*2)

New Column with Data Type:
Table.AddColumn(#"Changed Type", "Custom", each [Column1]*2, Int64.Type)
