Is there a way to create a button for Export Data?

I've seen this questions posted multiple times without a good answer.  But it's been a few years.  So I figured I'd post this again.   The report users are not aware of the export data feature since it's buried under that "..."  I'd like to create a <Export Data> button above this table that is very easy to see, but can't figure out a way to do this.   Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,@clayduvall

Thanks for letting us know your user experience. According to your case description, I do understand how frustrated you are now.

1.First of all, if your embedding method is Power BI embedded analytics, you can try to use the following link to achieve your functionality:

Export data from a visual in Power BI embedded analytics | Microsoft Learn

Here is a link to the documentation:

Power BI embedded analytics overview | Microsoft Learn
If not, the power automate approach, as mentioned by bhanu_gautam, seems to be a more efficient way to do it.

2.Finally, there is a possible alternative:

You can choose to insert an icon, and then in its url place for your desired data download method link.

Second, you can change the header icon information to make the export data option more visible to users.

HI!

Did you get some good answers here? I  have researched much, but all of them seem to reference Power Automate in regards to output against onedrive or sharepoint. I dont think any of the answers really touch the heart of the issue, which is to mirror the export data to user downloads functionality, but in a much more visible and user friendly way.  I would wager 80% of users have no idea these three dots exists at all .

Appreciate the response

I did not. But I found a suitable workaround which was to create a paginated report and embed that instead of using the data table.

Wow, so fast, awesome 😀

Would you be able to give a more thorough explanation, or reference something that give you the approach you used? We are using a very proprietary embedded approach for our reporting.

Sure.  I created a power bi report and then used the Paginated report visual to embed it. Then you get all of the export options that paginated reports offers.

Thank you!   Do you know of any solution without needing Power Automate?   Since these are PBI embedded reports exposed to a large audience of external users, we'd like to avoid that if possible.
