Is there a way to connect Power BI to a TFS query?

We have TFS queries with some complex filter conditions.  I want to know if there is anyway to tie a Power BI data source to a TFS query.  When the filter conditions on a TFS query change, Power BI data source would automatically change as well.   (This way I don't have to define a Power BI report with separate criteria than what is used in a TFS query.)

I tried to set up a web connection to the query but it does not work as it only allows for anonymous connections.

We have Azure DevOps Server 2019.  However, OData is not enabled.   We can connect to Analytics Views, however, this is too limiting because: it does not allow for complex filter conditions, you can't query hierarchies or linked data, and you can't access other items other than work items (ex: Test Results).

Here is an example of a query...

Per the article you referenced...Downside: You will have to manually refresh the TFS query in Excel to keep data up to date, or have a script that does that for you.

What type of process would you recommend that could open the Excel file, refresh the query and then save the file?

I don't want to do this in Excel as I want to have the refresh automatically occur in Power BI.

Hi @Alicia_Anderson ,

To report on local TFS in Power BI, you can download the TFS add-on for Excel. Refer to the following similar solutions:

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.
