Is it possible to build a financial model in Power BI?

Hello

Is it possible to build a financial model in Power BI?

I am refering to the widely used financial models that calculate cashflows or NPV etc by having future projections of revenues, costs etc.

Is that something doable in PowerBI and would it be preferred than building the model in Excel?

One issue I see is that you cannot easily change inputs of the model in Power BI.

Thanks!

Excel has more flexibility in terms of managing the inputs and the cell to cell calculation for financial modeling projects than Power BI.

Power BI supports Parameter values to simulate and produce different scenarios based on user selection but limited when compared to Excel.

I have built few models on Power BI and yes it is possible to build a model on Power BI, Power BI is a beautiful tool that can be shared with clients and for the first time, our financial models will even be better deliverables to our clients than our reports that we provide on PDF or PowerPoint.
