Installing Oracle Client

I am following this article here:

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-desktop-connect-oracle-database/#installin...

I have downloaded the file that is listed for 64-bit installations but I don't know how to install it (Oracle noob here).  There is no obvious setup.exe file included and the article doesn't actually tell you how to install it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @jpapador

The installation instructions are included within the zip files of 64-bit ODAC 12c Release 4 (12.1.0.2.4) Xcopy for Windows x64. After you unzip the installation files, you would find two files named “readme” which look like as follows. Just open them and follow the instructions in them to install Oracle client.

I have uploaded the two readme files in OneDirve, you can download them from the following link.

I followed the instructions. The .bat file run and did some stuff including addition in registry. I restarted Windows10. Nevertheless I keep getting the message that the recommended provider for Oracle is not installed.
