Ingesting Data

My company uses an HR system iChris. They have a reporting module but it is not very flexible. What would be the most efficient way to ingest the data into PowerBI to produce dashboards? or what would be the questions to ask the software provider to found out the best way to exploit the data in PowerBI?

Do they have an API?  How secure is it?

I have not explored this with the app provider, but they do state they have APIs on their website. I can explore further with them. What would be the questions to ask to detemine eligibility re APIs and Security?

The standard stuff - which authentication methods they offer (ideally in the request header rather than in the URL) and how they make sure you are only seeing the data you have permissions for.
