Index List using direct query SQL Database

Hi All,

I'm trying to generate an index for all the rows in my data set in an effort to display a running total where the date has been subdivided into day and nightshift. I assume because I have subdivided the days the existing running totals aren't calculating correctly and I can't think of how else to calculate the running total unless I have an index column to refer too?

Problem is that I am using an SQL Database with direct query - so I can't use power query to generate an index column.

Any thoughts would help.

Hi @Mike5049 ,

I made simple samples and you can check the results below:

vtianyichmsft_0-1705647914108.png

Rank = var _t = ADDCOLUMNS('Table',"Rank",RANKX(ALL('Table'),[Total],[Total],DESC,Dense))
RETURN MAXX(_t,[Rank])

An attachment for your reference. Hope it helps!
