Importing Confidential data into PowerBI

Hi Team,

We are trying to import the excel file with Confidential label. We are not able to import the data in PowerBI.

When we try with General label we are able to successfully import the data.

Please find the screenshot errors.

Hi @KeerthanA_99 ,

When you apply a Confidential label to an Excel file, it does not automatically encrypt the file.

Importing Confidential-Labeled Files into Power BI:

  1. Click publish inside the file to directly upload the excel file with the sensitivity label set.

hi @Anonymous

I have .xlsx file which has snsitivity label set and cannot be imported t PowerBI desktop. I have also tried changing the label to Public but it still does not import the same "Public" labeled excel file. It should have been imported after i have change the enrypted label to Public??
I dont want to change the file extension to .xlsm or something else. Public file should get uploaded as is !!
What am i doing wrong??

Hi @KeerthanA_99 ,

Encrypted files are currently not allowed to be imported directly into power bi, they need to be decrypted into a normal file before they can be imported into power bi.
