Import from SSAS Cube: Measure duplicated across Dimension Attributes.

Hi,

I am wondering whether someone can help me out on the below!

I am importing from a Analyses Services:

Measures:

- Sales Retail

- Sales Online

Dimensions:

- Week

- Online Payment Method

The issue i am experiencing is that the Sales Retail measure is duplicating in Power Query three times after import, as we have three dimenion attributes in the 'Online Payment Method' Dimesnion.

It is easy to undertand that the reason for the duplication of Sales Retail is due to the dimension 'Online Payment Method' not being realted to the Fact Retail, where the measure 'Sales Retail' belongs.

I know i can resolve the above very easily in Power Query through basic transoframtion or by importing Measures & Dimesnions that are related into their own Queries and conducting some simple joins.

But the concern i am having is for the NON TECHNICAL Users who would want access for self-service reasons and do not undertand why the Sales Retail values are being duplicated!

So the question is:

- Does a work around exist in Power BI or SSAS without requiring any work from the users side?

- Has anyone else ever come across the following and found a workaround for the users

It seems that you use "Connect Live" mode to connect to SSAS. In Power BI Desktop, there is no workaround.

In SSAS, you can find your measure, and set the value of IgnoreUnrelatedDimensions to True. This way, for unrelated dimensions, the measure will show blank values.
