ImpersonateCurrentUser in SSAS model, cannot visualise data in Power BI on browser or desktop

I get the error 'Can't display the visual'. See details.'

Background:

The data is pulled into SSAS from a DWH hosted on a different server. This is done by a generic user.

This data is then queried in PowerBI using directquery mode.

I need to use impersonatecurrentuser as I want to filter what different users can see in the Power BI reports. The permisssions are set at the DWH level.

If I turn off this setting, I can view the data in Power BI... but only with the permissions of the generic user.

Even if I use my own user for all steps, once I turn on this setting, the data will not display.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Colin

@gazumpt It sounds like your missing the RL security in the model. Power BI is sending queries to the model, not your warehouse. So if you want people to only see the data they should have access to, you need to build that into your model.
