Hi all, Using the Native in built IBM Netezza Adaptor in Power BI desktop does not work for me.
When attempting to use the inbuilt IBM Netezza adaptor, after entering the Netezza server detail , the database to connect to and then entering my user credentials when prompted I get the following.
Tech details:
Application: Power BI Desktop
Version: 2.104.941.0 64-bit (April 2022)
Power BI Adaptor: IBM Netezza
Default connectivity mode: Import (but also fails with Direct)
I could not actually find any articles or resource on support for the Netezza adaptor or for the specific issue above.
I am not sure if there is some component needed on the client machine running PBI desktop ie ODBC. I am sure I had this working on my old Win 10 laptop before upgrading to my MMD laptop.
Interestingly, conferring with another colleague, he was able to connect ok on his machine, which makes me think it’s a client machine config issue.
Not sure if relevant however He has 64-bit Netezza System DSN configured on his MMD laptop client (DSN: NZSQL) whereas mine is there with no details in server etc. (I cannot change as no privs so one for our IT to do just in case). We thought that was it, however a Win 10 PC tower we also use also has the Netezza system NZSQL 64 bit dsn set up ok and PBI still fails to connect with the same issue.
The credentials and ‘test connections’ on ODBC manager for the 2 DSNs that are set up ok works ok.
My 'blank' DSN looks like this:
I have exhausted my tech capability to resolve this so and whilst will engage our IT team to check and resolve my local system DSN set up anyway , just wanted to see if anyone out here has had similar issue and resolved or has an pointers that I am obviously missing or making some duff assumptions.
Many Thanks
Regards

Need Help/
I get the below error in the Power query when i am trying to connect to a Particular dimension table.
DataSource.Error: ERROR [08S01] [Microsoft][Netezza] (1001) Communication link with server failed.
other dimesions tables works totally fine, connector unable to communicate to the newly built dimension view table.
Lucien, many thanks to your response. The encryption setting did indeed get around the problem. It was the only thing I had not tried! On my previous lap top I did not get the unknown server issue, but did get a note that the SSL certificate could not be validated - the action and outcome for both errors would appear to be the same.
Interestingly I no longer get any messages in desktop about an SSL certificate issue.
I do have reservations that un-checking hte encrypt connection could present potential security risk, however I have yet to research what impact that setting has for us and if we need any alternate mitigation.
