I forgot my password and lost the device with the authenticator app

Hi Team,

I forgot the password of my admin account and I am unable to reset the password since I have lost the device in which the authenticator app was installed. Please let me know how to resolve this situation.

Hi @HariMohan ,

Thanks for reaching out to us about your problem. If you’ve lost access to your Authenticator app and are unable to generate the code to log into Power BI, you can follow these steps to regain access to your account:

  1. Go to the Microsoft account security page.
  2. Sign in to the Microsoft account that you use for Power BI.
  3. Click on the “Security & Privacy” tab.
  4. Under “Security info”, click on “Verify”.
  5. Follow the steps to verify your identity.

Once your identity has been verified, you’ll be able to remove the two-step verification from your account. After removing the two-step verification, you should be able to log into Power BI without the need for an Authenticator app.

If you are an admin and logged out of Microsoft Authenticator app, the only way it can be resolved is to contact Microsoft support. They will reset the authentication.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do, if you are admin and logged out of Microsoft Authenticator app. The only way it can be resolved is to contact Microsoft support. They will reset the authentication. I did contact Microsoft Support and the security team has reset the MFA. Now I have disabled Authenticator and enabled text verification.

Best Regards

How to contact the admin team, the india support number does not work and there is no email id. I am stuck. I am the admin for the fabric. I lost my previous phone so authenticator does not work on the new phone. Password is reset because it is mapped to my email. But it is now an endless loop of verification through authenticator app only. how can i write email to microsoft admin? Guess they just need to disable 2 FA in my account and i should be able to login
