I can't sum a value column in Power BI

I have numbers columns in power BI that I can't sum.

These columns are formatted as numbers in power query and power bi, but even with "auto sum", power bi don't see the lines of the columns as values, so i can't put this column in the value field of the chart.

Only work if I use measurements.

How can I resolve?

@TienTran you have to turn on implicit measures, it gets disabled when a calculation group is added. Read more here Solved: Tabular Editor - Calculation groups - Microsoft Fabric Community

@Vdol Do you have calculation groups in your model? If yes then you cannot use implicit measure (like dropping the column to sum), you have to create a measure (explicit measure) and then use that in the visuals.

I had the same problem and tried to remove all Calculation Groups to recover the basic function of quick summarizing Column Values, but that didnt work 😢 Please advise me if you have any solutions. Thanks

To make your column summarizing first go to the Data section below

in the name select the column you want to sum and in the data type it should be a whole number once you change there will be a pop-up dialogue now select yes and your options should look like below.

Hi @Vdol ,
Please check once the datatype , format and summarization for the column . The Summarization should be Sum if you want to values to be aggregate.

This is the standard for all values columns. But auto sum doesnt work

Hi @Vdol ,
The aggregated column should look like this

pratyashasamal_0-1674659155910.png

It should summarize by selecting Summarize option in Column tools .

The other thing I check first is to select the table and visualizations section make sure the values are not set to do not summarize when you click the down arrow beside them.Check formats, If it is number stored as Text then it wont offer to Sum as Adding Text is unpossible. Make sure it is a number format.

Thanks ,
