How to use the Group By function using the DirectQuery (SQL)

Hi All.

I am having issues with using the Group By function. I am using a direct query. I have to use this option due to the report requirements. So I cannot change to import mode.
Please see below for the message I get, and the data does not group then.

Hi @Jerush ,

There are some limitations in DQ transformation. If you use a transformation that is too complex, you receive an error that either it must be deleted or the model switched to import.

Please refer this document.

What result do you need to use Group By function?

Maybe you can try measures.

If it doesn’t meet your requirement, could you please provide a mockup sample based on fake data? Do you want to calculate the sum of each name?

It will be helpful if you can show us the exact expected result based on the tables.

Please upload your files to OneDrive For Business and share the link here. Please don't contain any Confidential Information or Real data in your reply.

Best regards,
