Hi @admin11,

In fact, the data model table not exists column/row index, the 'sort order' that you apply to query tables not apply to the data model.

By default, power bi will display the table field based on ASCII character sort order(a~z), but sometimes it will change the sorting order randomly.

PC2790 's suggestion to add number prefixes should be a good trick to affect the sorting order, but they not work the same as general number values. If you are work with a field amount larger than 10, it sorts the similar character first. (e.g. 1,10,11,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 instead of regular sort order)

For these scenarios, I think you can submit an idea to add an option to control the displayed sort order of table fields.

Hi @admin11

Sorting text like this is done on the first character and then the 2nd character etc.

So _10 will come before _2 because 1 is less than 2.

If you are trying to order 10 or more text names then you need to use 2 digits for all the numbers, for example, _01, _02, _03 .....  , _09, _10, _11 etc to get the sorting in 'numeric' order.

Regards

Phil

By default it will be the alphabetical order

The fields are always alphabetically sorted.

If you want to change the order, you can rename the fields giving the alphabetically ordered names like prefixing them with numbers.

It is something that might be time consuming but will solve your purpose.

Hi PC

Great you give an idea how to arrange all dimension in sequences , so that when user click personalise , they can select 1 to 10 dimension. don't need to up and down to look for it.

By Default it sorts all the fields name of a table alphabetically, in A-Z order.
Also you can see the same in the snap you provided.
