How to show aggregate by month on x-axis but have it in data date order, not Jan-Dec

I want to show values by month for the financial year (July 1st 2020 to June 30th 2021), however the months are being shown along the x-axis from the start of the year (Jan to Dec). I have tried to use month AND year but it just shows the year that way. Surely there is some way to sort the x-axis based on date from left to right?

@justlogmein

If you use date hierarchy with Year and month, the x-axis should sort automatically.

The step I was missing here was the 'At lowest level of data' option on the actual visual. I had my data as a date hierarchy with Year then Month, but did not have this third step selected. Now I can see my data properly.

@justlogmein,

In your date table, sort the Month column by the column that contains the desired sort order (e.g., Fiscal Period):
