How to shorten the dates in power bi calendar table

Hi Everyone,

I have a calender table in power bi and one of the columns shows 'MonthYear' in below format.

How can I shorten it to 'Jan-2023', 'Feb-2023' or 'Jan-23' 'Feb-23' for example?

Thank you!

@kathyyy19 ,

Please try this as another Calculated Column:

AbbMonthYear = FORMAT( [MonthYear], "mmm-yyyy" )

Regards,

Hi rsbin,

Thanks for your message. I tried your method but the new column has data type as 'text'. When I use this in my chart, I wanna sort my x-asix by the order of month. When they are in text format, they are sorted alphabeticallt which is not what i want. Any suggestion what I can do?

Thanks!
