How to share power bi report with Looker connector

Dear users,

i would have a question regarding, how to share a report which is connected from Power BI to Looker. Basically im working with a report based in Looker -> connected to Power BI.

Question would be, how can i make available (Power BI sharing link) for other users in my env?

Thanks

Hi, @ardoki

In Power BI desktop, you can follow the following tutorial to connect to looker:

If the above scenario doesn't work for you, you can try connecting looker to databricks first and then from databricks to PowerBI:

Of course, you can also directly use the Looker Studio to Power BI provided by Windsor.ai to realize the connection between looker and Power BI.

Actually, i can see the report in a kind Power BI window, but the only indicator is the icon on the left upper corner

other than that, it looks completeley as Looker Studio - which is ok. But i would like it to share it from here -> if somebody wants to open the report, please open the PowerBI env and not the Looker one - that would be it. Not sure if you description is for that?

Hi! Have you published/uploaded your Power BIfile to a workspace in Power BI service (i.e. app.powerbi.com)?

@audreygerred the file actually is located on GCP (Google Cloud Platform) which is connected to the Looker instance - before it was one factory... now i want to change it to Power BI. There is something like a "tunnel" or a "view" how i can access GCP stuff on Power BI - but i probably can not share this option t other consumers - this is the question currently 🙂

To share a Power BI report that is connected to Looker, you can follow these steps:

  1. Publish the Report to Power BI Service:

    • Ensure your report is connected to Looker and ready in Power BI Desktop.
    • Publish the report to the Power BI service by selecting File > Publish > Publish to Power BI.
  2. Set Up On-Premises Data Gateway (if needed):

  3. Share the Report:

    • In the Power BI service, navigate to the report you want to share.
    • Click on the Share button at the top.
    • Enter the email addresses of the users you want to share the report with.
    • Customize the permissions (e.g., allow recipients to share the report, build new content with the data, etc.).
    • Click Share to send the invitation.
  4. Manage Access and Permissions:

  5. Consider Using Power BI Apps:

By following these steps, you can effectively share your Power BI report connected to Looker with other users in your environment. If you need more detailed guidance, the Looker–Power BI Connector documentation provides comprehensive instructions1.

Is there anything specific you need help with in this process?
