How to set up input parameter field for end user to pass an ID to a dynamic sql query

Hi ,

I understand we can set up parameter and link to SQL "direct query" in Power BI query Editor.
I would like to set up a text box for customer ID and let end user to type in the ID, similar to search on slicer.  Once typed in I would like to let end user click apply and pass the input value as parameter value to the SQL query.

I am not sure how to link the input text to the Parameter value. any help will be much appreciated.

is this possible in Power BI Desktop ?

HI @Anonymous ,

Current it is impossible to pass visual data to query table side.
I'd like to suggest you use query parameters to parameterize your connection string or filters, then you can simply modify these parameters to integrate with query table records.

@parry2k @Anonymous @mateoc15 Good day- is this still the case, that you cannot have front end user input a value for a parameter in SQL Server? Does this also apply to Odata connection?
