How to replicate my table visual in SSMS or Dax Editor
So, in short, I have a table visual where I have populated it with data (from multiple source tables). I want to replicate the result set in SSMS or DAX editor so I can push it into another system.
(data held in SSAS tabular Cube)
Is there an easy way to achieve this? Can I access the table visual data as is in memory to see the underlying DAX?
How do I replicate the same results from PBI desktop table viz to output in SSMS using the EVALUATE function? It doesn't appear to be straight forward and I'm hitting my head against the wall with this?
I think there is one possibility, by using the Query Analyzer. It is currently in preview so you have to enable it in File -> Options:
Then in PBI, go to View and enable the Performance Analyzer view. Click start recording and refresh your page. Then you can see what is happening in the back ground. Here you can even copy the DAX resulting in your visuals;
Note that it might be pretty complicated to figure out what is happening in the background. The screenshot above is from a very simple report page (one slicer and one table with measure) but I think this is the closest you will get to what you need 🙂
