How to remove white space in clustered column chart where values are not present

Hi,

If possible, I am trying to remove the white space in my clustered column chart so that the chart is easier on the eyes. Here is my current chart:

And here is the data set which I am importing from an Excel file:

In the end, I would like 2022 to have 4 columns, 2021 to have 2 columns and 2020 to have 1 column with the corresonding values.

Is this doable?

Thanks

Hi @deflav720 ,

Actually , since the OT Types are almost completely different every year , I think the Cluseter Column chart is not suitable for your requirement because the blanks could not be removed.

I'd suggest you use Stacked Column chart instead:

My X-axis is categorized as "Date Hierarcy". In the format visual my X-axis does not have the option to change the "Type". My first option is "Values".

I am still getting the blank spaces which is due to me having 7 column types ("OT Types" column) and each year on the X axis is giving space to all 7 types even if there is no data in them. I need to only attribute certain column types to specific years on the X axis and not have the other years give space to them. Here is what it currently looks like:

Hello again @deflav720 🙂

Then what you need to do is:  select the visual -> click on 3 dots -> go to Year -> click on the drop-down arrow on the right -> uncheck "show items with no data":

Hi @deflav720 🙂

Welcome to this amazing community!

If you allow me, 1st I would order the X axis by Year and "Sort ascending":

Then, you can play with the chart definitions by clicking on the chart to select it, then by going to Visualizations -> Format your visual -> Visual ->X  axis ->  Type: Categorical

You can also write down "Padding" on the search bar and reduce the spacing between your columns, like this 🙂
