I have a Power BI table that is connected to a Query. The table was published after I created the initial version of the Query in Query Editor. Now I have gone in and added a new colunn and reordered my columns and want the updates to be reflected in the Power BI table in Data view. The reason is that when a user does a natural language search I would like the data to be structured in a specific way.
What I have done:
1. Edited the underlying Query in Query Editor
2. Once done editing, I "Close & Apply" the updates
3. Opened my Power BI data view --> but I don't see the updates.
thoughts?
Thanks
Jurg
Don't forget to republish after you make the updates. The Queries Editor operates on local data model only, and changes need to be synced to the cloud.
If you click on the last step in your query when editing the query in the query editor, do you see your new column? Sometimes you can do things higher up that subsequently get negated by steps after it. Just want to make sure. I haven't generally had the issue with adding columns with Desktop like I did with Excel. Back in Excel, had to remove any custom columns and then refresh the data.
