How to reduce white space in bar chart, waterfall between title and plot area?

Hi all,

I would like some assistance in figuring out how to reduce white space in some of my visuals that are created between the visual title and the actual graph

Looking for a similar feature that is available in excel. Look highlighted yellow box which lets you resize the plot area --> eliminating any unwanted white space that

I had a similar problem with a stacked column chart - whereby I had a measure that either showed the percentage or the total based on a slicer selection. The way I managed to remove this white space was making the Y Axis Maximum the field value of the measure. Not sure why this worked and why this error happens sometimes.

@bi_trax87  What is the Y-axis maximum for your waterfall? I see it is turned off, but maybe it is higher than the actual values and that's why the white space? 

For the bar chart, did you hide a 'blank' or 'other' value that didn't meet the True/False criteria? 

I have never encountered such a large white space below my titles in Power BI visuals, so not sure why you're seeing this. 

Do you have this problem with all visuals, or just these samples?

Is it the same problem if you try to recreate the visual from scratch?

Thanks a lot for the advice, below you can find replies to your questions and what I finally did.

The values Start, End were set to auto, so this trick didn't work

For the bar chart, did you hide a 'blank' or 'other' value that didn't meet the True/False criteria? 

The field itself has only TRUE/FALSE values, though there are some global filters both on file level and on the report page which might have something to do with it

These samples really stood out because of their relative small size which played a role in the size of white space

I had to reconsider a bit the report layout because of this unwanted white space. I increased all these 3 visuals and

For the bar charts I played with minimum category width to find the best size

For the watefall it was easier since the overall increased size decreased the white space a lot

@bi_trax87 Thanks for the update and detailed solution. Glad you found a workaround that is usable. 🙂

Have you looked through all of the options in the format options for each visual (padding, etc.)?  You will be limited to what is available there.  Another suggestion to increase real estate is to turn off the titles overlap them.  You can add cards to serve as the titles where needed.

Unfortunately, I have tried all options in the format section and nothing seems to work.

Indeed the proposed way would solve the issue and provide more formatting flexibility. I would follow the approach for the short-term.

However, I would really like to know if this is expected behavior. Seems like it is a placeholder for something and doesn't auto resize if this something is not selected
