How to know where field from query is used?

Is possible to know does query field is in use (or not in use) in any control?

I try to reduce list of fields (to make smaller pbix, and reduce DB trafic from Direct query),

because table has eg 100 fields, but in controls only 15 is used.

For now, only way is to delete field from list, and hope that not any control will "break".

I need "reference tool".

Reza Rad has been developing a tool that scans your model, and will tell you which fields are active in visuals, visual/page/report level filters, or are used in calculated columns / measures.

It's still in beta (Version 0.3), but it's been out for a month and will continue to improve.

I haven't personally used it yet, but I think this is what you're looking for.

Good topic. What about Field Finder, is that safe to use as well in an enterprise situation?  I see the radacad was developed by a trusted source, what about this one:

In addition to the radacad Power BI Helper, you can also use the Power BI Field Finder to see where columns and measures are used on report visuals.  You can download it from https://github.com/stephbruno/Power-BI-Field-Finder

Is Power BI Helper safe to install?

You have to check each report element to see what fields are on them.

If you systematically go through each report and document the fields used it will be the quickest way to know what columns can be removed from the query.

Well, I'm totally aware of this fact and doing this snail-fast job...
But when you use 50 tables, each at least 40 fields, and lots of measures, on dozens of sheets, you start to ask yourself is there any "reference" or "dependency" tool to make life easier for developer.
Of any kind...

@Anonymous , yes it is safe to download.

Reza Rad is a professional and runs a great consulting/training business at www.radacad.com.  He is a Microsoft MVP for multiple years.  He would NOT develop malware.
