How to hide or customize svg visual tooltips in Power BI service?

Hi folks;

I'm running into some issues here with svg visual tooltips. I created svg-based data bars for one Calculated Measure, but after i applied it in table, in both Power BI desktop and Power BI service, when i hover over the svg visuals i'll see original XML scripts. As you see in below picture.

I asked AI for some workarounds but none of the solutions it gives me actually works. For example, adding '"<title></title>"' after "<svg xmlns='http://www.w3.org/2000/svg' viewBox='0 0 240 45'>" or customize it so it will show something like 'Variance bar: +12.3%'. And turning off the tooltips seems not an option either.

Did anyone of you run into this problem in the past and have some workarounds? as long as it shows no tooltip in Power BI service i guess it would be okay, since the audiences might get confused with these scripts...

thank you!

Mason

For the moment, i used one blank shape and put it on top of the matrix table. It wouldn't be a perfect solution from a developer's point of view because it impacts users scrolling the rows.

Please let me know if you guys have better solutions. thanks

Hi @v-priyankata

Thanks for following up! The conclusion is the tooltip for svg now still has bugs. I'll submit a ticket on Microsoft. And thank @danextian for the workaround!

Hi @MasonMA

I've read posts that turning off  tooltips in the visual works but it doesn't seem to be the case on my end. I would just use a 1px by 1px page as a tooltip.

Hi @danextian

Could you elaborate a bit more about using a 1px by 1px page as a tooltip? i'm not quite sure how to do this.

It's also weird that when i revisit my visuals this morning i noticed on two similar matrix tables that both use same svg measure, one has tooltips showing but the other one doesn't. Both have Tooltips under Property turned off...

Thanks

Mason

Use a blank page as a tooltip. Resize it to 1px by 1px. You will still see that triangle when hovering a visual but the page itself won't be visible.
