I suggest you to create a measure to filter your visual.
Filter = IF(MAX('Calendar'[Date])<=TODAY(),1,0)
I can reproduce your issue when my calendar table contains future date.
Add above measure into visual level filter and set it to show items when value = 1.
Result is as below.

As soon as you add measures based on fact tables these will disappear (unless you have facts in the future)
