I have managed to create a custom Measure.
This custom measure only makes sense in the context of being a total across columns of a Matrix. However when I add the custom Measure to the values of the matrix, I cannot see any way to only make it appear in the Total column and not in every single column:
The custom Measure has been called Par, red crosses are where I would like it removed. Values only really make sense as a total.
I did read one suggestion online of turning off automatic column width and then squeezing the column so that it is only visible, but this doesn't work for me, every time a new column is added the custom Measure will appear in that column.

Hi @AEdmonds1990 ,
I created some data:
Here are the steps you can follow:
1. Create calculated table.
True =
var _table1=
SUMMARIZE(
'Table123','Table123'[Flag],'Table123'[Flag1],
"Group1","Measure",
"Group2",BLANK(),
"Amount",
IF(
[Flag]="A",1,2))
return
UNION(
'Table123',_table1)
2. Column subtotals – Per column level set on – Column level:Group2 – Show subtotal set off.
3. Result:

Thank you!
After much trying, duplicating your tables and formulas, and wrapping my head around the SUMMARIZE function I have finally done it!
One thing I noticed (that may be of help to others) is that the UNION function is inconsistent in the way it orders tables generated via SUMMARTIZE. I worked round this by nesting a SELECTCOLUMNS within a UNION:
