Hi
I have a requriemnet as below for the Pivot table/ Matrix in Power BI.
I want to give a differnt background color for differnt column value heading in Matrix.
Please suggest if this is doable or not?. We can do it in Table view but my requirment is to do in Matrix view.
Thanks,
Hi, you should go to the Format Visual Panel, then in the Specific Column field, you can select the column you would like to personalize, then select where would you like to apply a background color or font color here is a sample.
Hi,
It helps to color series and column values and subtotals but not a column header
You can see above the background color display a menu of selections to choose where to apply the settings, such as values, subtotals or headers
Hi,
Thank You for the hint, however it does not solve the problem.
Values are calculated as measures (Actuals, Forecast1 etc) with headers in rows. It it's build on measures then, when selecting "Specific column" only those rows are possible to format. And "Apply to headers" button works for those rows headers and not for the columns.
Please see an example of the matrix below. What I'm after is: how to apply the greyish colors to quarters, half yearly and full year columns (different shades for each column including their headers). I hope I've explained the issue clear enough. Any additional ideas would be very much appreciated.

Hi @mh2587
Thanks for your support for sharing the pbix file. Im able to see its doable in your data of because of converstion of importing data to pivot.
But in my scineario i have just given 3 columns of data - but in real for me i have almost 22 columns in that excel sheet, which we already created report on it.
where we didnt have control to conver the entire sheet with 22 columns into a pivot import.
so in my case i'm getting the data in below view with 3 columns, which i'm not able to do - think it will not be doable if this is the case. Still do we have option to do if the data is coming as below for the table with 3 columns higlting below
1. Select the Matrix
2. In the Visualizations pane under the paint poller (Format) select Field Formatting
3. Select the column name from the dropdown
4. Select the background color
5. “Apply to Header” – On
6. “Apply to Values” - Off
7. For the other columns follow same procedure just change the column name and background colour

Is this a feature that's been removed? I don't have field formatting.
Indeed @Lawrenceiow! It seems impossible to change the font of a specific column header. Formatting matrices and tables still is quite a challenge unfortunately
Hi
Im giving you the below sample data.
Category | type | Value |
Category-A | Benchmark | 23 |
Category-A | Revenue | 24 |
Category-A | Sales | 25 |
Category-B | Benchmark | 26 |
Category-B | Revenue | 27 |
Category-B | Sales | 28 |
Category-C | Benchmark | 29 |
Category-C | Revenue | 30 |
Category-C | Sales | 31 |
Can you please use this data in MATRIX view and can you get the view what i was asking ?

Is this still possible in the new Visualizations panel? I've been unable to change the column header as Field Formatting is no longer available.
