Hi All,
How can the report get the full name of the person using it? USERNAME and USERPRINCAPLENAME does not give user first and last name.
So I want on the report the user name but not sure what will give me that for example:
John Doe or Doe, John
Thanks!
Hi @Anonymous ,
Does that make sense? If so, kindly mark the proper reply as a solution to help others having the similar issue and close the case. If not, let me know and I'll try to help you further.
Best regards

Yes but it is not what I would expect from Microsoft in a tenant they supply. For one thing why not use Active Directory?? It is required for logons and the first/last name is supplied. So why not mention some way to take advantage of that? With all the connectors available in Power BI (I know most are not supported in the tenant) still seems like cloud capability in that area with Power BI Pro there should be something that can be done. We need to think more out of the box esecially with all those Microsoft cloud capabilities they keep touting.
Okay, I said what I felt and was thinking.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Currently, there is no way to retrieve the logged in username on window machine. DAX function USERNAME and USERPRINCAPLENAME can be helpful to return the username that the person is signing in using its Power BI credentials. You can post your new idea in Idea Forum , add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.
As az38's suggestion, you may create a new table which containS the user first name , last name and matched username singing in Power BI.
Best Regards,
Amy

Ok I tried updating my post but no luck so replying.
The report is running in Power BI Pro in a Office 365 tenant. So hopefully there is a way to get and show the report the user's first and last name.
Thanks!
Hi @Anonymous
I see no chance to get User First and Last names using built-in Power BI solutions - DAX and Power Query.
You need to create (import for your system, for example) list of users names connected with user logins and then use it new data source as lookup table
