How to filter for multiple items

Hi All,

If I have a filter called 'Student ID' that shows me all students and want to filter on a list of students that I am interested in, how can I do this?

I know you can use Advanced filtering to paste in 2 different student IDs, but how can I look up a whole list?

Going through the filter and manually selecting each student individually is not an option as sometimes we may want to look up a list of 100s of students.

Thank you.

Hi  @Anonymous ,

I created some data:

Would you consider grouping each student, tagging each student and placing them in the corresponding group, and using this group as a slicer to display the set of students by selecting the corresponding tag.

Here are the steps you can follow:

1. We can create a calculated column, customize the rules of the group.

Group =
SWITCH(
    TRUE(),
    'Table'[Value]>=1&&'Table'[Value]<=5,"Test1",
    'Table'[Value]>=6&&'Table'[Value]<=8,"Test2",
    'Table'[Value]>=9&&'Table'[Value]<=10,"Test3","Test4")

2. Result:

If it doesn't meet your desired outcome, can you share sample data and sample output in table format? Or a sample pbix after removing sensitive data. We can better understand the problem and help you.

Hi @Anonymous

The requirement is not clear.
Are you suing filter pane or you using slicer?
In Filter pane and slicer, Search box is available and you can search student ID and select multiple student.

Please share more details with screenshot

Let me know if that works for you
