How to convert some rows from sqm to sq ft?

Hi everyone,

I'm new to power bi and I'm trying to convert some rows in my table from sqm to sq ft. I tried using the SWITCH function but that didn't really work for me.

I'm trying to convert area from sqm to sq ft. Currently it is in two different columns, one for the number [Area] (in decimal format) and one for the unit [Area Type] (in text format).

Hi @sanai1505 ,

How about this :

ColumnSQF = if [Area Type] = "sqm" then [Area] * 10.7639 else if [Area Type] = "sqft" then [Area] else null

Or if all the others are sqft, this one might already be sufficient:

ColumnSQF = if [Area Type] = "sqm" then [Area] * 10.7639 else [Area]

Hi @sanai1505 ,

Would it work with something like this? 🙂

ColumnSQF = if ( table[Area Type] = "sqm", table[Area] * 10.7639, BLANK() )

Thank you for your reply.

It's giving a Token RightParen expected error for [Area] in the formula.

Hi @sanai1505 ,

Oh you are in Power Query! I wrote the code in DAX...

Here the code in power query's M:

ColumnSQF = if [Area Type] = "sqm" then [Area] * 10.7639 else null

Does this one get you further? 🙂

@tackytechtom that one definitely got me further, however I need to keep the rest of the values as is (the sq ft ones). How would I go about that?
