would like some advice for below to action:
1. connect to a published dataset ( I am the owner)
2. import another data source and merge with item1.
Thanking in advance.
Hello @Anonymous ,
for question 1, refer to this microsoft documentation where they explain the steps https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-report-lifecycle-datasets
regarding question 2, you should import the new data set to the published dataset you're reading from.

Thanks. I can connect to the dataset to create a report. However, I would like to do some changes to the dataset (to merge with a new data source) , below textbox pop up when I click transform data.
Hello @Anonymous ,
Then connect using direct query https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/connect-data/desktop-use-directquery
